Matt Kline’s piece Fragments for solo bass won grand prize in the International Society of Bassist’s composition competition. Recently, he performed as principal double bassist under the conductor and composer Krzysztof Penderecki. Upon the composer’s request, Matt performed his own adaptation of Penderecki’s Capriccio for Sigfried Palm. He previously was a member of the Renew ensemble, a group that specialized in contemporary improvisation.
